500X Gallery
February 6-28, 2010

Opening: February 6, 7-10 p.m.

Tim Best

New works bring together elements of black box theatrics and imagery from dreams to create surreal ‘performance-scapes’.

Shelby Cunningham

Dollhouses shaped like one of my childhood homes are host to my cute and (sometimes) creepy sleep disorder hallucinations that take over my bedroom nightly.

UPSTAIRS GALLERY: Words, Words, Words. . . by Todd Camplin

Todd Camplin says his ‘work is about abstracting text into objects/images.’ When he starts out with text, those words have an assigned meaning, but after his process of repetition, the text becomes an object/image with a new meaning. Camplin will feature his work done during his Master of Fine Arts at the University of North Texas. His MFA show will include his ink on paper drawing and digital painted prints of abstracted words and phrases based off of private messages from greeting cards, poetry, yearbook inscriptions, and quotes from other artists.

PROJECT ROOM: These here things make me glad by Matthew Clark and Kathy Webster

Kathy Webster and Matt Clark present new work for the project space in a show titled “These here things make me glad”. Both artists have a long standing interest in popular culture and for this exhibition they are focusing on contemporary language using references from the social world of texting, the public realm of advertising and song lyrics.
