The Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas at Austin announces the departure of curator Jonathan Bober. Bober, Senior Curator of European Art since 2010, and prior to that, Curator of Prints, Drawings, and European Painting since 1988, will leave The Blanton effective April 30, 2011 to serve as Curator and Head of the Department of Old Master Prints at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.

This month the Dallas Museum of Art celebrates the opening of its new second-floor European art galleries, which now allow visitors to experience the Museum’s collection in a series of small vignettes that more cohesively reflect the progression of European art across several centuries. The new galleries also enhance the Museum’s ability to place a greater number of works on view, and to present new acquisitions, selections from the DMA’s Decorative Arts collection, and important loans from local private collections.

The Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas at Austin is pleased to announce a gift from the Burdine Johnson Foundation in the amount of $150,000. Over a five year period, the grant will support the museum’s K-12 initiatives, including school tours and the Art Central program which serve approximately 11,000 students annually from over 125 schools.

The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth’s Tuesday Evenings Lecture Series are held in the Modern’s auditorium and begin at 7 p.m. The Tuesday Evenings series brings artists, scholars, and critics to discuss their work each week during the spring and fall. The spring series begins February 8 and ends April 19. Admission is free and open to the public. Free admission tickets can be picked up at the Modern’s admission desk beginning at 5 p.m. on the day of the lecture. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m. and is limited to the first 250 ticketholders. A live broadcast of the lecture will be shown in Café Modern for any additional guests. The Museum galleries and Café Modern will remain open until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays during the series, (regular gallery admission charge applies).
