Amarillo Museum of Art (AMoA) presents the Amarillo College / West Texas A&M University Student / Faculty Exhibition March 25 through April 10, 2011. There will be an opening reception on Friday, March 25 with a Gallery Talk at 6:30 p.m. followed by a reception from 7 – 8:30 p.m. Wine and hors d’oeuvres are provided by the AMoA Alliance, the Museum’s supporting organization.
For over 38 years the Amarillo College and the West Texas A&M University Visual Arts Departments have enjoyed this partnership with AMoA that showcases the best of current works of students and faculty. Students learn to prepare work for exhibition and gain a sense of pride in sharing their work with the community in the professional setting of the museum.
AMoA offers free student membership (with showing of I.D.) to all AC and West Texas A&M University students. AMoA also includes students in special events, such as the Ladd Lecture series. Art Professors of both institutions take classes to the museum to view and discuss current exhibitions. Vicky Taylor-Gore, AC Art Professor, stated, “Seeing art work in person is a much more enriching experience for students then simply seeing it reproduced in a textbook.”
Museum hours are Tuesday – Friday from 10 – 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 – 5 p.m. AMoA is located on the Amarillo College Washington Street campus at 2200 South Van Buren with entrance through the Fine Arts Plaza.
