Bike and Segway tours to launch March 5
Austin’s Cultural Campus, the pedestrian-friendly cultural destination comprised of the five museums located at or near The University of Texas at Austin — the Blanton Museum of Art, The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, the Harry Ransom Center, the LBJ Library and Museum, and The Texas Memorial Museum — has partnered with locally-based Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop and SegCity Austin to develop bike and segway tours.
Launching March 5, in conjunction with Explore UT, the University’s annual open house, both tours are organized around, and follow along the pedestrian route of the Cultural Campus. Participants will be led to all five museums where they can experience the architecture of each building and learn more about the art, history, science, and humanities that the institutions offer. Speaking on behalf of the Cultural Campus, Kathleen Brady Stimpert, Director of Public Relations and Marketing at The Blanton remarked, “We are so delighted that Mellow Johnny’s and SegCity have organized these special tours on our behalf. We believe that tourists and locals alike will enjoy learning more about what our unique destination has to offer.”
Mellow Johnny’s Bike Tour
The Mellow Johnny Bike Tour, co-hosted by the Austin Cycling Association, begins at 9 AM on Saturday, March 5th, and runs approximately six miles. Participants should meet at Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop at 400 Nueces Street. On this route, participants will stop by all Cultural Campus museums and will be given information about each organization by docents. Royal Memorial Football Stadium, The UT Tower, The Littlefield Fountain, The Bob Bullock Museum of Texas State History, the Blanton Museum, the LBJ Library & Museum, the former ACL studio building, the Harry Ransom Center, The Texas Memorial Museum, the “Drag,” and more.
