As the saying goes in Texas, if you don’t like the weather then give it a few minutes and it will change. Last Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, the Dallas / Fort Worth area was blanketed in a thin layer of ice and snow with temperatures in the teens. This weekend, February 12-13, 2011, will be a totally different story with sunny skies and temperatures forecasted in the sixties.
The following museums are sure to be open:
- Amon Carter Museum of American Art
- Crow Collection of Asian Art
- Dallas Museum of Art
- Kimbell Art Museum
- Meadows Museum
- Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth
- Nasher Sculpture Center
- The Women’s Museum
Essentially, all museums and galleries should be open. The sun will be shining and we should all enjoy some art this weekend.
Try Mass Transit
We would like to encourage our readers to give mass transit a try. We often take DART Rail from the Parker Road Station to St. Paul Station in downtown Dallas. The $2 DART pass is bargain compared to the $6 we’ll spend in gas. And the Dallas Arts District is only a couple blocks away.
$6 gas is based on a 60 mile round trip to a museum in a vehicle that gets 30 miles to the gallon.
