Artists’ Showplace gallery will show paintings from the White Rock Lake Centennial Celebration’s Art Canvas Project from June 2 to 24. A free reception on Friday, June 10, from 6 to 9 p.m., is open to the public and includes wine, hors d’oeurves and live music by Dueling Mikes.
The Art Canvas Project was created by co-chairs Millie Winston and Jackie Griffith as a fundraiser for capital projects and improvements at White Rock Lake as part of the White Rock Lake Centennial Celebration. They two women purchased 50 blank canvases that were distributed to local artists who were each asked to create a painting depicting White Rock Lake. Many Artists’ Showplace owners are participating in the project. Artists’ Showplace also distributed some of the canvases to artists taking workshops at the gallery.
Proceeds from all sales at the gallery will go to the White Rock Lake Centennial fund. After the show closes, remaining paintings will be brought to the Dallas Arboretum to be sold at the June 26 Centennial Concert that concludes the 100-day White Rock Lake Centennial Celebration.
Artists’ Showplace is located at 15615 Coit Road, Suite 230, in the southwest quadrant of Spanish Village at Coit and Arapaho. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Artists’ Showplace also has workshops held throughout the year given by internationally renowned artists and offers weekly art lessons in its fully equipped classrooms.
