For nine days in July, the Dallas Museum of Art will stay open until 9:00 p.m. with music, happy hour drink specials, films, tours, and more.
Escape the heat and enjoy cool summer nights at the Dallas Museum of Art during 9×9. Visitors can experience nine days of activities when the DMA stays open until 9:00 p.m. Spend Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from July 14 through July 30 enjoying happy hour drink specials, mix-and-match dining with small plates inspired by the collection, and an array of films, programs, performances, and more for all ages.
Be the first to participate in new programs and make connections with works of art and other visitors. Take an artist personality quiz that reveals your DMA art doppelgänger. Adults and kids will compete head-to-head in a battle of wits and creativity during ART You Smarter Than a Grown-Up? Join the discussion during Provocative Comparisons tours, which provide new insight into works in the collection, and put on your thinking cap and running shoes for a race through the DMA’s collection during the DMAzing Race. Visitors will be able to explore the DMA’s galleries and special exhibitions, including Art of the American Indians: The Thaw Collection, and enjoy music and performances throughout the Museum after hours.
The first 9×9 Friday features the Museum’s monthly Late Night on July 15, when the DMA stays open until midnight. Ben Mezrich, author of The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal, which was adapted into the film The Social Network, will discuss his new book, Sex on the Moon: The Amazing Story Behind the Most Audacious Heist in History. In addition to performances, tours, lectures, and family programs, North Texas musician Salim Nourallah will perform during the Late Night After Hours Music Showcase.
9×9 dining will offer a new menu each week of nine small tasting plates, allowing visitors to mix-and-match offerings from newly appointed head chef James Coulter, formerly with The William J. Clinton Presidential Library. With options like Texas Blue Crab Cakes, Thai Spring Rolls, Foie Gras, Wild Mushroom Risotto, Shrimp Tamales, and Kung Pao Chicken, Museum visitors can take their taste buds on a trip around the globe before they discover the same diverse cultures in the DMA’s galleries. Happy hour cocktail creations will take their inspiration from works in the DMA’s collection with a new featured cocktail each night.
