Six Arms to Hold You
June 11 through July 8, 2011
Opening reception Saturday, June 11, from 6-8 p.m.
Ro2 Art is proud to present Six Arms to Hold You, bringing together three Dallas artists in a thought-provoking exploration of the female figure. Local contemporary artists John Gonzales, Cathey Miller and Joey Seeman present diverse visual interpretations of women through a variety of media. The art event will take place on Saturday, June 11, from 7 to 10 p.m. at The Aloft Hotel in Downtown Dallas, located at 1033 Young Street. A silent auction of small works will take place to benefit Promise House at the opening.
About the Artists
The art of John Gonzales consists of multi-dimensional portraiture with ambivalent meanings, and in this exhibit he explores the ideas of restriction, release, love, security and stability.
Cathey Miller, whose art emphasizes portraiture and the female form, has painted self-portraits wearing wigs and other props to set up imaginary scenarios that include equal parts science fiction and good old fashioned girl power.
Joey Seeman has produced psychological portraits of beautiful women that have inhabited his daily life over the past year, including burlesque dancers, models, tattoo artists and the girl next door. Metamorphosis and change are underlying themes in this group of work.
