Chalk the Block in El Paso is Looking for Art Vendors

The City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department (MCAD) is looking for arts and crafts vendors for its 4th Annual Chalk the Block Public Art Festival to be held on October 14-16, 2011 in Downtown El Paso. Vending to be held on October 15 and 16 only.

Vendors will be part of the event on Saturday, October 15, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, October 16, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  All arts and crafts vendors are encouraged to apply. Vendor applications are available for download at beginning on Monday, August 8, 2011.

All artwork must be original and hand-made by the applicant or with the use of appropriate tools.  No additional items may be sold (i.e. water, candy, etc.). The event is a family friendly event and artwork must be appropriate for the venue.

Applicants will be notified of their selection by September 14, 2011.

Booth Fee Schedule (non-refundable)

$30.00 for artist

$15.00 for student artists (school ID or photocopy required)

About Chalk the Block

On Friday, October 14, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, October 15, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, October 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department in partnership with the El Paso Community Foundation, will host an extraordinary event to attract and invite seasoned and emerging visual artists to use chalk to create works of art on the city sidewalks of downtown El Paso. Based on last year’s attendance, we expect 25,000 El Pasoans and tourists to descend upon Arts Festival Plaza and event locations of San Jacinto Plaza and Pioneer Plaza.

Chalk the Block will be a fun-filled event and will host entertaining activities for people of all ages, including a Kids Zone, an interactive public chalk area, temporary art installations, art vendors, live music, fire and aerialist performances, great food, chalk art competitions, and much more!
