On Stage with Caravaggio: A Free Family Festival at the Kimbell Art Museum

Enjoy an exciting afternoon of free art-making activities, historic costumes, children’s films, and performances for participants of all ages at the Kimbell Art Museum’s Free Family Festival On Stage with Caravaggio, on Saturday, October 29, from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission to Caravaggio and His Followers in Rome is free during the festival.

Step up to share the spotlight with the famous Italian painter Caravaggio! Bring your camera and strike a pose in 17th-century-style costumes to create your own Baroque family picture. Celebration highlights will include art-making activities inspired by Baroque paintings, scheduled family tours, and an instrument petting zoo and musical performances by Texas Camerata. Children’s films screened throughout the afternoon include “The Lost Thing” (2010, 15 min.), which won an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film; “Patrick” (2006, 6 min.); and “Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin” (1999, 10 min.).

Advance reservations are not required.

Promotional support is provided by American Airlines, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, NBC 5, and the Lone Star Film Society.
