The final week for visitors at the Tyler Museum of Art to enjoy Reflections on Water in American Painting – The Arthur J. Phelan Collection is underway and will be highlighted this week by the free First Friday Art Tour set for Friday, March 2 at 11:00 a.m. The exhibition features over 50 maritime paintings depicting American life as it unfolded along the water’s edge. First Friday tours last under an hour and are led by members of the Museum’s education staff. The tour is free, however standard admission fees apply.
Design Fair 2012: Learn. Shop. Connect. will take place April 25 – 29, 2012. Design Fair 2012 features vintage modern objects of the 20th century, as well examples of cutting-edge contemporary design. A wide selection of carefully curated items will be available for purchase as part of the Design Fair, including furniture, glass, ceramics, lighting, books, metalwork and fashion. Visitors to the Fair will be able to meet the designers and exhibitors for an up-close and personal look at the pace-setting designs of today and the mid-20th century.
InMotion Imagery is seeking 7 local artists to display artwork on consignment within our facility. They are looking to showcase art throughout facility for customers, for sell by local artists. They would highlight 3 to 5 pieces from each selected artists’ collection, depending on size and dimensions of art work. Art must be ready for display.
The oil paintings of Gene Gregory will be featured in a solo exhibition during March at Artists’ Showplace gallery. The show runs March 9 to 31, with an opening reception on Friday, March 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. that is free to the public, with wine and hors d’oeurves.

The contest is open to all Dallas Independent School District (DISD) and local area private high school students.
After five years of planning, the El Paso Museum of History will celebrate the opening of the Neighborhoods & Shared Memories Exhibit on March 11 from 2 pm to 4 pm. previously known as Las Villitas, this exhibit presents El Paso’s neighborhood history and initially focuses on the oldest neighborhoods: Chihuahuita and El Segundo Barrio. Every two years, the exhibit will feature another set of neighborhoods. Neighborhoods seeks to preserve, interpret, and increase an appreciation for neighborhood-based history.
It’s About Time: 14,000 Years of Art in New Mexico celebrates the centennial of statehood by presenting a social history of the art in the Southwest. This exhibition opens May 11, 2012 at the New Mexico Museum of Art and runs through January 2014 and is an official New Mexico Centennial project.

The Dallas Museum of Art League has announced Chris Giftos, the former Director of Special Events and Master Floral Designer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as the guest of honor at the annual Art in Bloom Luncheon and Symposium 2012 scheduled for Monday, March 26. Giftos has graciously agreed to be the guest of honor and keynote speaker after the untimely passing of Nancy Clarke, who had previously been announced as the honoree.
NYLO Hotels is looking for original artwork by DFW artists to showcase in the soon-to-open NYLO Dallas South Side. The hotel is currently under construction at 1325 South Lamar at Belleview and is set to open in July 2012.
