Dallas Museum of Art Launches New Dashboard

Last week, the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) announced the launch of a new website, Dallas Museum of Art Dashboard. Dashboard is a collection of real time stats about the museum. Dashboard is the museum’s way of sharing information that might elicit more public interest in the institution.

Unique by Nature: New Juried Art Show in McKinney

The Arts and Music Guild has been invited to assist the City of McKinney in building the Public Art Collection by co-coordinating with the McKinney Performing Arts Center a new juried art show. Unique by Nature is the theme of this new art competition. Sponsors include citizen leaders dedicated to the growth of the arts in McKinney.

State Fair of Texas Selects 2012 DISD Scholarship Recipients

The board of directors of the State Fair of Texas will honor the 2012 DISD scholarship recipients at a luncheon on April 30th in The Music Hall at Fair Park. This year’s keynote speaker will be Sarah Saldaña, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas. Fox 4 anchor Clarice Tinsley will make the presentations of the Pete Schenkel Scholarship Awards.

SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts Presents Meadows at the Myerson on April 10

SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts will present its 19th annual benefit concert, The 2012 Meadows at the Meyerson, at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 in the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora St. in Dallas. Held each spring, the concert features the critically acclaimed Meadows Symphony Orchestra and honors a community leader. This year’s honorees are noted arts and civic patrons Gloria and Jack Hammack. The 2012 event chair is Tincy Miller, and the honorary chairs are Sharon and Mike McCullough.

The El Paso Museum of Art announces Veil of Veronica

Veil of Veronica will open to the public Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. in the Dorrance and Olga Roderick Gallery: Retablo Niche at the El Paso Museum of Art. Entrance to the Museum and this exhibition are free to the public. Occasionally the Museum features traveling exhibitions for which admission is charged such as Magnificent México: 20th Century Modern Masterworks which is currently on view with an admission fee of $10 per non member adult age 13 and up and $5 per EPMA member adult age 13 and up. Free for children under 12 and all active military personnel and their families (ID Required).

Ro2 Art Presents Active-8: A Mini-Ennial in Texas Art

Ro2 Art is proud to present Active 8: A Mini-Ennial in Texas Art – an exhibition curated by Ricardo Paniagua, including works by contemporary Texas artists Daniel Adame, Cande Aguilar, Angel Cabrales, Bernardo Cantu, Mario Garcia, Michael Anthony Garcia, Beto Gonzales, and Ricardo Paniagua. The exhibition is produced in coordination with The McKinney Avenue Contemporary, with support by Arts+Culture Magazine.

Lawndale Art Center Announces Artist Opportunities

The Lawndale Artist Studio Program is part of Lawndale’s ongoing commitment to support the creation of contemporary art by Gulf Coast area artists. With an emphasis on emerging practices, the program will provide three artists with studio space on the third floor of Lawndale Art Center at 4912 Main Street in the heart of Houston’s Museum District.
