Jacques Lamy Gallery
April 21 through May 31, 2012
Irish painter, Elizabeth Cope will be arriving in Dallas on April 19, 2012, for her exhibition A Retrospective: 1980 – 2010. Elizabeth has exhibited before in Dallas at the Dallas Museum of Art in 2002.
The exhibition A Retrospective: 1980- 2010 broadcasts an intimate reflection of Cope’s work over the past 20 years. The exhibition has already been shown at the Irish American Heritage Centre in Chicago, Illinois. The tour was launched at the National Arts Club of America in New York in March 2011. Elizabeth Cope’s work which is reminiscent of that of Matisse has been labeled as ‘seriously powerful’ and ‘full of energetic movement’.
For Elizabeth painting is a way of life. She has painted for the last 42 years and now reaching her sixtieth year she is reflecting on her career and seeking new inspirations. Cope’s work taken has her to all corners of the globe, where she paints from life. Elizabeth was born in Co. Kildare in the South East of Ireland. She now lives with her husband Geoffrey in Co. Kilkenny in an 18th Century Castle, where he farms and she paints. The house is open to the public on weekends and is now an Artists Retreat where creativity is inspired by the beautiful setting.
A Retrospective: 1980- 2010 will be on show at the Jacques Lamy Gallery, 1607 Dragon Street, Dallas, Texas from the 21st of April 2012 until the 31st of May 2012. All works are for sale.
