Photographer Joe Ing passed away in his sleep on Sunday, April 22, 2012. The cause of his death is not know to us at Dallas Art News. It came as a shock to his family and friends.

“I had lunch with [Joe] on Friday and he seemed fine,” said photographer and friend Chip VanPelt. “He talked about preparing for a gallery show in June, an upcoming vacation and shooting wildflowers over the weekend.”

Dallas Art News never got the chance to meet Mr. Ing in person. We did review his Backroads exhibit at the 14th Street Gallery in 2009  (read Review: VanPelt and Int at 14th Street Gallery). His photographs were a pleasure to view.

There will be a life celebration for Mr. Ing this Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 7 p.m. in the Clubroom of the Chimney Hill Townhomes located at 9223 Emberglow Lane, Dallas. Mr. Ing’s favorite refreshments will be served.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe Ing’s name to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at www.themmrf.org would be appreciated.
