Laura Moore Habitant de Paris

It is with great pleasure to announce that Laura Moore has been awarded an Artist in Residence in Paris, France, at the American Church in Paris. Moore will create a large-scale oil painting as a continuation of her labyrinth series during the three-week residency.

SMU Meadow School of the Arts Announces Summer Programs for Pre-College-Aged Students

SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts is offering three summer programs in June and July for pre-college-aged students. Programs include the Meadows Academy for Young Artists, targeted to high school art students; Fashion Media Summer Workshops, for high school students interested in fashion journalism; and the SMU Institute for Young Pianists, for piano students at elementary, intermediate and advanced levels who are entering grades 3-12.

SMU Announces Launch of First International Arts Management Master’s Degree Program

HEC Montréal, Bocconi University Graduate School of Management and SMU’s Arts Management and Arts Entrepreneurship program will finalize an agreement on May 30 to launch a new 12-month International Arts Management Master of Management Degree (M.M.). Beginning in fall 2013, the new M.M. degree will be the first to focus on issues unique to international arts management and to approach arts management from a global perspective. The program includes one four-month session at each of the three partner universities and will prepare students to manage and lead international arts and cultural organizations.

Last night at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, Chris Matthews, host of Hardball with Chris Matthews, discussed his new book, Jack Kennedy: Elusive Hero, to a sold out crowd. The conversation was moderated by Lee Cullum, a columnist for The Dallas Morning News and contributor to NPR.

Oak Cliff Visual Speed Bump Tour 2012

I learned one thing on the Oak Cliff Visual Speed Bump Tour this weekend and that’s to start early and pace yourself. Fifteen artists invited us into their studios to see how they create art and each host on the tour could not have been nicer. Everyone was willing to talk about the art and even give demonstrations of the creative process. So, out of fifteen locations I only made it to five.

The Old Jail Art Center Announces New Exhibits

The Old Jail Art Center in Albany, Texas, has announced three new exhibits opening on June 2, 2012. The exhibits are Two Women Look West: Photographs of King Ranch by Helen C. Kleberg and Toni Frissell, Justin Boyd: Time Has Slipped Rows, and West Texas Triangle: Catherine Lee. All exhibits will run through September 9, 2012.
