On a visit to the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, visitors typically expect pieces depicting Native Americans, cowboys and scenic landscapes. But this summer, the museum is doing something a little different. Through August 19, 2012, visitors to the museum can experience American Vanguards: Graham, Davis, Gorky, de Kooning and Their Circle, 1927–1942. The exhibition features artists with one common connection: John Graham.

Monday, July 2, 2012, marks the beginning of Mr. Holga’s Kennedy Assassination Tour Summer 2012 for his book, Death by Holga: 11.22.63. Mr. Holga will be stopping in Chicago for Jack Ruby’s grave, Grand Rapids for President Ford’s grave, Dearbor for Kennedy’s limo, Dayton for Kennedy’s Air Force One, Waynesville for Kennedy’s limo driver and finally Tampa for Kennedy’s Secret Service Agent. All of this will be done in five days!
Summer is getting hotter but at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH), it’s getting easier to hang out in the cool zone of contemporary art. Beginning Tuesday, July 3rd, CAMH is expanding museum opening hours adding an additional 14 art-viewing hours per week.

The Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) has received $300,000 to support the creation of a Laboratory for Museum Innovation. The Laboratory will produce focused and highly innovative digital projects that will positively impact visitor experience at the DMA and offer a broad application to the global museum community.

The Dallas Museum of Art presents Omer Fast: 5000 Feet Is the Best, opening Saturday, June 23, and remaining on view through Sunday, September 30, 2012. The film was originally shown at the 2011 Venice Biennale, and this is the first time the work will be on view at the DMA since entering the collection in 2011.
