Painter, Printmaker and Teacher Ann Cushing Gantz Passes Away

Dallas has lost prominent painter, printmaker and teacher Ann Cushing Gantz. She passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, from an extended illness.

Mrs. Gantz was born in Dallas on August 27, 1933. She grew up in Memphis, Tenn. and attended the Memphis Academy of Art. Mrs. Gantz started teaching at the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts in the 1950s. She taught for several decades.

Mrs. Gantz founded Cushing Galleries in the 1970s.

Some of Mrs. Gantz’s papers and works are included in the Hamon Library’s Bywaters Archives of Texas Art at Southern Methodist University.

Mrs. Grantz is survived by her husband Everett, daughters Melissa and Elaine, and grandsons Elliot and Ian. A celebration of Mrs. Grant’s life is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas. The service will be in the chapel.
