The Menil Collection will Celebrate 25th Birthday on September 22

The Menil Collection will celebrate their 25th birthday on Saturday, September 22, 2012. The festivities will start at 3 p.m. sharp with the renowned Kashmere Reunion Stage Band.

Other birthday activities include a scavenger hunt for the whole family, cake and ice cream on the lawn and more music provided by TSU Jazz Ensemble. Later, there will be an official Proclamation honoring this occasion from the Mayor of Houston Annise Parker.

The event is free and open to the public.

About The Menil Collection

The Menil Collection was established by John de Menil and Dominique de Menil. The museum, designed by Renzo Piano, opened in 1987. The collection includes over 15,000 paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, photographs and rare books. They have works by René Margritte, Marcel Duchamp, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. The Menil Collection has a large collection of pop art and contemporary works.
