El Paso Puts Out a Call for Artists

The City of El Paso Museum and Cultural Affairs Department (MCAD), Public Art Program is inviting regional artists to submit qualifications for exterior three-dimensional memorial. The memorial will pay tribute to the El Paso Veterans of Foreign Wars at Veterans Park located at 5301 Salem Dr. Artists must live within a 300 mile radius of El Paso to submit.

MCAD encourages artist with previous experience or interests in outdoor installations. Selected artist or artist teams will design, fabricate and install the outdoor, site-specific memorial. Artists should consider El Paso’s history, character, diversity and cultural identity when creating the art.

The total budget for the design, fabrication and installation is $50,000.

There will be three semi-finalists selected to submit a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the memorial. Artists will need to work with El Paso city officials and community stakeholders. Proposals will need project description, an itemized budget outline, project illustrations (drawings, renderings and / or maquette), and maintenance guidelines.

Honorarium for RFP will be provided.

Interested artists should visit http://www.elpasotexas.gov/mcad/publicart_artists.asp for more information.
