Sculptor Jesús Moroles will be at Photographs: Do Not Bend Gallery for an artist reception and book signing from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2012. Moroles will be signing MOROLES: Granite Sculpture, which accompanies his exhibit Rings of Granite. The exhibit is on view at PDNB through November 24, 212.
MOROLES: Granite Sculpture is a 256 page survey of Moroles’ work starting in the early 1980s to present day. The book include installations, portraits of the artist and the artist’s process.
Moroles is a well known monumental granite sculptor. He has works in the White House sculpture garden. Moroles’ most public sculpture is Lapstrake (1987). The work is 22 feet tall and weights 64 tons.
Moroles has over 2,000 works around the world in China, Egypt, France, Italy, Japan, Switzerland and the United States. He is regularly commissioned for public installations, especially in the Lone Star State.
