The Wyeths Across Texas
Tyler Museum of Art
September 7 through December 9, 2012
The Wyeths Across Texas is now open at the Tyler Museum of Art. The exhibit is a wonderful collection of works by N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth and Jamie Wyeth. The Wyeths Across Texas runs through December 7, 2012.
This weekend only the Tyler Museum of Art is presenting special tours led by Victoria Wyeth. Miss Wyeth is the great-grandchild, grandchild and niece to the artists. Miss Wyeth has a wealth of knowledge about the artist, the works and the subjects of the works.
Miss Wyeth will present a public lecture titled The Life and Times of Andrew Wyeth on September 8 at 2 p.m. at the Jean Browne Theater, which is located on the campus of Tyler Junior College.
The museum stated that tour spots and lecture seats are limited. The museum can be reached at 903-595-1001 or online at tylermuseum.org to purchase tickets.
Tickets for a private tour with Miss Wyeth art $20 for members and $30 for non-members. Tours are Saturday, September 8, at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, September 9, at 12:30 p.m.
We got the chance to meet Victoria Wyeth on Thursday, September 6. She had just arrived from the Tyler airport and was taking a case of lost luggage very well. This turn of bad luck left her without any dress clothes or make-up for the press tour. But that did not matter as Miss Wyeth won us over with her charm, enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge. A private tour of The Wyeths Across Texas with Victoria Wyeth is worth every penny. Cheers.
