The Circle of Aphrodite: Music of Love and Beauty by Musical Offerings

Monday, December 3, 2012 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA) will present the beauty of Aphrodite through music. SAMA and Musical Offerings will co-present two concerts for the Aphrodite and the Gods of Love exhibition. The concerts will feature music for soprano, harp, violin, viola and cello. The music will correspond to Aphrodite and the themes of love and beauty.

Works will include

  • Handel’s Venus -the Roman version of Aphrodite- and Adonis
  • Excerpts from Lerner and Lowe’s, My Fair Lady
  • Debussy’s Girl with the Flaxen Hair
  • Bolcom’s Praxiteles Aphrodite

There will be two performances in the Cowden Gallery of The Circle of Aphrodite: Music of Love and Beauty by Musical Offering: 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The event is $8 for SAMA member and $14 for non-members. Guests can register online or call 210-978-8121.
