Bryan Adams: Exposed
Goss-Michael Foundation
December 17, 2012 through February 8, 2013

For the past 12 years, musician Bryan Adams has sharpened his skills as a professional photographer by capturing intimate images of friends and colleagues in the entertainment, fashion and art industries. In October, Adams released a comprehensive retrospective of his photographic work in a book titled, “Exposed.”  Beginning in December, 46 select images from the book will be on public display in the U.S. as part of a 3-city tour of art galleries in Dallas, Oklahoma City and Marfa, Texas.

The tour kicks-off in Dallas at The Goss-Michael Foundation with an invitation-only opening reception from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Monday, December 17. The exhibition opens to the public on Tuesday, December 18 and will run through February 8, 2013.

Portraits in the exhibition include a cross-section of international celebrities and emerging stars such as Danny Trejo, Victoria Beckham, Lindsay Lohan, Amy Winehouse, Mickey Rourke, Lana Del Rey, Natalia Vodianova, Pink, Mick Jagger, Sean Penn, Queen Elizabeth II, Sir Ben Kingsley and South African rave rapper Yo-Landi Visser.

“Bryan Adams represents an outstanding talent in multiple artistic mediums.  With our Foundation’s connection to the music industry, it was a natural to collaborate with City Arts Center to premiere Bryan’s outstanding photography in Dallas,” said Joyce Goss, executive director for The Goss-Michael Foundation.

“I am delighted to partner with the Goss-Michael Foundation and Crossover to bring this exhibition to the American Southwest.  Bryan Adams’ photographs of distinguished personalities from the world of fashion, art and music precisely mirror the major public preoccupations of the 21st century.  ‘Exposed’ comprises work that is accessible but challenging, offering the audience a creative tension of sorts,” said Mary Ann Prior, executive director for City Arts Center. “It’s my aim to form connections – between art and the individual, between viewing and learning, between the easily understandable and the unfamiliar – and this exhibition does it on all levels.”

Following its stay in Dallas, the exhibition travels to City Arts Center in Oklahoma City, February 26 through May 17, 2013, before moving on to Marfa Contemporary, a satellite gallery of City Arts Center located in Marfa, Texas, May 31 through July 31, 2013.

The exhibition will be free to the public at all three locations.

About Goss-Michael Foundation

The Goss-Michael Foundation was founded by George Michael and Kenny Goss in June 2007. The Foundation offers the public a rotating schedule of exhibitions derived from Goss and Michael’s private collection of British contemporary art as well as other institutions. These exhibitions serve as a challenge to preconceived art notions and strive to set a new standard in artistic awareness by providing visitors with fresh and fascinating art experiences. Through these experiences, the Foundation hopes to generate new perspectives and conversations on the creative methods of contemporary artists. Locally, the Foundation is dedicated to contributing to Dallas’ thriving artistic community and enhancing the public’s familiarity and interaction with contemporary and emerging British artists. The Foundation fosters young artists in Dallas, and throughout Texas through numerous scholarships and art education programs.

The Goss-Michael Foundation hours are Tuesday-Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Monday by appointment only. There is no charge to visit the Foundation.
