Greg Holmes: Foreign Soil
Laura Moore Fine Art Studios
January 12 through February 6, 2013
Laura Moore Fine Art Studios in McKinney, Texas, announces the opening of Greg Holmes: Foreign Soil this Saturday, January 12, 2013, from 7 to 10 p.m.
Learning to feel at home is a familiar experience for most of us at countless times throughout our lives. The desires to put down roots or to start over are equally driven by our need to belong somewhere. It is an element of our humanness that affects us deeply and individually.
Allen-based artist Greg Holmes invites us to consider the transient nature of our modern lives through his new exhibition “Foreign Soil” at Laura Moore Fine Art Studios from January 12 through February 6. In speaking of this series, Holmes says, “In a mobile society, the experience of uprooting ourselves and then finding and redefining a sense of home in a new location is a common story for many. It has certainly been common for me. In this series I am exploring our near universal desire to find meaningful connection no matter where we might find ourselves.” Through combined uses of drawing, woodcut, and monotype printing, Holmes captures poignant stories from the everyday scenery near his home in the north Dallas suburbs.
Meet Holmes during opening night for the exhibition “Foreign Soil” on Saturday, January 12th 7-10pm. Through February 6, 2013, at Laura Moore Fine Art Studios, 107 S Tennessee in McKinney, Texas. Gallery Hours: Thu-Sat 11am-5pm, 2nd Saturday 11am-10pm, or by appointment. Free admission. 214.914.3630. www.lauramooreart.com
