The San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA) presents the San Antonio Public Library Foundation Great Books Seminar Series. The seminars are modeled after the great books program at St. John’s College. Paul Martin of Martin Capital Advisors will lead each series of seminars. The events will be held in one of SAMA’s galleries.

Readings from two Platonic dialogues, Symposium and Phaedrus, in the Aphrodite and the Gods of Love exhibition in the Cowden gallery
- Saturday, February 9
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius in the Roman gallery
- Saturday, March 9
Jorge Borges, The Circular Ruins, in the Contemporary gallery
- Saturday, April 13
Shakespeare, Julius Caesar in the Roman gallery
The seminars are from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Hors d’oeurves will be available until 5:30 p.m. as patrons arrive. The discussion will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Optional dinner in SAMA’s Café des Artistes begins at 6:30 p.m.
The cost for individual seminars is $15 for members and $25 for non-members. The cost for the series is $50 for members and $80 for non-members. Payment is due upon reservation. Call 210.978.8121 to register.
Reading material for the January seminar will be provided. Patrons will be responsible for acquiring their own copies of the reading material. Reading materials will be made available in the SAMA Shop.
