The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) announced the details for the opening of the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. The new museum is located on the campus of Southern Methodist University (SMU) at the corner of SMU Blvd. and Central Expressway. Opening is May 1, 2013.
NARA has already started selling individual tickets for general admission to the museum and library. Tickets can be purchased online.

- Non-SMU college students – $13
- Youth (13-17) – $14
- Children (5-12) – $10
- Retired Military – $10
- Children under five, SMU faculty, staff and students, and active duty military – FREE
NARA says that group discounts are available.
Visitors with an admission ticket from the Meadows Museum on the same day will received a twenty percent discount. The Meadows Museum, renown for its collection of fine Spanish art, is located on the south end of the SMU campus near Mockingbird Lane and Bishop Blvd.
Tickets can be purchased online at http://osp.osmsinc.com/georgewbushlibrary/. Visitors with discounted or free tickets must be able to show proper ID before entering the library and museum.
Purchasing tickets online allows visitors the ability to pick the date and time of their visit for touring the museum. Walk-ups are limited to 50 tickets, while there are 300 online tickets available per hour.
The George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum has limited parking and recommends visitors consider carpooling or using Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). The Mockingbird Station is the closest DART stop.
The museum will not allow any outside food or drink. No weapons are permitted on the property. Visitor will pass through metal detectors and all bags will be examined through an x-ray scanner before entering. Large bags should not be brought into the facility.
Gift Shop, Cafe and Hours
The library and museum has a gift shop for souvenirs and Café 43 for dinning.
Starting May 1, the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. The library and museum will be closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years days.
