The Dallas Museum of Art today announced that Jacqueline W. Franey has been named Director of Development; she will begin her new position on December 9, 2013. Franey comes to the Dallas Museum of Art with more than 20 years of fundraising and philanthropic gift planning experience, most recently as Sales Director, Planned Giving at BNY Mellon Wealth Management in Dallas, and with prior service at three major nonprofit institutions based in Dallas, including the Communities Foundation of Texas.
In her role at the DMA, Franey will be responsible for planning and implementing all aspects of the DMA’s fundraising efforts. She will collaborate with and report to Anne Bergeron, the DMA’s Associate Director of External Affairs, and will work in close partnership with all members of the Museum’s senior leadership team, trustees, staff and volunteers, and the community to support the Museum’s mission as a responsible steward of cultural heritage and a trusted advocate for the essential place of art in the lives of people locally and around the globe.

As Sales Director, Planned Giving at BNY Mellon Wealth Management in Dallas since 2012, Franey had direct responsibility for cultivating new charitable clients and deepening relationships with existing clients on a range of planned giving, philanthropic and wealth planning issues. She also was responsible for growing the firm’s planned giving program, and identified over $200 million in planned giving sales opportunities.

Prior to BNY Mellon, Franey served as Donor Relations Director at the Communities Foundation of Texas from 2006 to 2012, raising more than $45 million during her tenure. From 2003 to 2006, she was the Planned Giving Officer at Children’s Medical Center, where she developed annual and long-range strategic plans and managed a portfolio of donors, prospects and professional advisors. Her earlier experience included service with the American Heart Association, where she worked as the National Director of Planned Giving for 10 years, and over a decade grew planned giving revenue to more than $100 million annually.
Franey arrives at the DMA at a time of growth in collections, visitation and visibility for the Museum. In January 2013, the DMA returned to a free general admission policy and launched DMA Friends, the first free museum membership program in the country. It simultaneously premiered the DMA Partners program, a more philanthropy-driven program focused on building relationships with donors and providing more targeted opportunities for their involvement in the life of the Museum. Both DMA Friends and Partners have received positive national attention and enthusiastic local support.
Franey is a frequent speaker at national and planned giving conferences, including the Western Regional Conference, American Council on Gift Annuities, and Partnership for Philanthropic Planning (PPP) national conferences, and various PPP and Association of Fundraising Professionals chapters. Her professional affiliations include serving on the editorial advisory board for Planned Giving Today, and as a former national board member for the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning.
