On November 21, 2013, El Paso Museum of Art Members gathered at the Museum for the annual Members’ Choice event to select artwork for the Museum’s permanent collection.

Members play a vital role in supporting the El Paso Museum of Art and Members’ Choice provides an important opportunity for members to participate in the development of museum collections. Over the years Members’ Choice has brought many important works of art into the museum’s collection, from old master prints to contemporary sculpture.

After carefully scrutinizing the permanent collection the Curatorial Department identified the gap in the museum’s collection that was to be filled by the Members’ Choice artwork this year. The artworks were displayed from November 12-24, 2013. Leading up to and during this special event on November 21st museum members visited to view the selections and cast votes for their favorite artwork. The theme for 2013 was a work of art on paper by a contemporary Mexican artist. The artists that were included for consideration this year were Demián Flores, Gabriel Orozco, Dr. Lakra (Jerónimo López Ramírez), and Francisco Toledo.

Our members selected Lotus Leaves by Gabriel Orozco for Members’ Choice 2013.
