Meadows Museum Celebrates Joaquín Sorolla’s Birthday with Free Cupcakes

The Meadows Museum will celebrate Joaquín Sorolla’s 151st birthday with free cupcakes. The event is Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The free cupcakes will be given to the first 151 people who buy an admission ticket to see the exhibit Sorolla and America.

The Meadows Museum is located on the campus of Southern Methodist University (SMU) at 5900 Bishop Blvd., Dallas, Texas. The museum houses the largest collection of Spanish art outside of Spain.

Sorolla and America will be on display at the Meadows Museum through April 19, 2014. The museum is the first stop on a world-wide tour which includes The San Diego Museum of Art and Fundación MAPFRE in Madrid.

About the Artist

Joaquín Sorolla (1863-1923) was the most renown artist before Pablo Picasso. Sorolla and America exhibits works by the artist done in America. The works include landscapes and portraits including one of President Taft. Sorolla was a master of color and sunlight.
