Mesquite Arts Center Announces Events for Spring 2014

The Mesquite Arts Center announce events for Spring 2014. Events include contemporary works by Diane Walker Gladney, photography by Karen Halsey, Texas Area Artists meeting, Mesquite Creative Arts Club meeting, Black Box MAC actors, Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, Mesquite Community Theater, Mesquite Symphonic Band and many more. March Events

March 3-30  Mesquite Arts Council presents the Chapter Two, Page One the work of Diane Walker Gladney a contemporary painter whose work is often noted for its intricate layers, sensual textures and playful content. A native of Connecticut with her Master’s degree in Art, Diane is an accomplished painter whose work has been featured in numerous public and private collections. Chapter Two, Page One is comprised of two related bodies of work, the Dick and Jane Series and the Documentation Series. The Arts Center is open Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm and during performances. Call the Arts Council at 972-216-6444 for more information. Admission – FREE

March 8 An artist reception for Diane Walker Gladney will be held in the Main Gallery from 4:30-6:30p. Nibbles, spirits and great music will all be a part of the reception.

March 2 Texas Area Artists will host their monthly meeting at 2p and features an artist demonstration. The public is invited. Call 214-566-8269 for more information.

March 10 The “Monthly Paint-In” begins at 10a. All artists are invited to bring their projects and share successes with others. Free! Call 214-566-8269.

March 22-30 Black Box MAC Actors present Love Loss and What I Wore by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron, based on a collection of lighthearted anecdotes, life stories and one- liners Love Loss and What I Wore  addresses the life defining tyranny of dressing rooms, purses and prom dresses  Tickets $15, are available online, at www.mesquiteartscenter.org or call the box office at 972-216-6444.

March 29 Mesquite Symphony Orchestra is in concert with the annual Not Just For Kids concert, entitled Harry Potter.  The performance will be in the Mesquite Arts Center Concert Hall beginning at 7p. Call 972-216-8127 for tickets and more information. www.mesquitesymphony.org

March 31 – May 1   The Mesquite Arts Council presents Make It Real, Make It Rock a solo exhibition by Karen Halsey in the Main Gallery. Karen has been capturing live music in Seattle and around the country for years. Her ability to capture the experience and energy makes for a truly unique show that gives attendees a backstage pass and front row look into a variety of concerts. April 25 – May 10 Mesquite Community Theatre presents Dearly Departed by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones. In the Baptist backwoods of the Bible Belt, the beleaguered Turpin family proves that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious. April 12 Kick start your spring shopping, pick up your Mother’s Day gifts or indulge yourself with a trinket or two at the 1st Annual Mesquite Artisan Faire “Sip and Shop” benefitting Leadership Mesquite. Saturday, April 12th from 11-4p. Leadership Mesquite is a nine-month educational/leadership program of the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce that identifies, honors, educates, challenges, and develops a select group of emerging business and civic leaders with the potential to provide future leadership for the Mesquite community.
