Today, Dallas Art News turns five years old. The online news source for visual art in the Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex was created by managing editor M. C. Roman on April 29, 2009. The Dallas Art News website has posted over 2,100 news releases and reviews for art all over Texas and surrounding states.
Time is running out for the call for artists in El Paso. The El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department is building a collection of artworks by El Paso area artists. The works will be places in city buildings for the benefit of the public at large.
Sammons Jazz Artistic Director and Steinway Artist Arlington Jones leads the Sammons Jazz Piano Trio and the Sammons Jazz Chamber Orchestra in the annual “Artistic Director’s Concert: The Music I Love” on Wednesday, May 7. The concert, the spring season finale, begins at 7:30 p.m. in Meadows Hall; doors open at 7:00 p.m.
The Meadows Museum at Southern Methodist University has announced it will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in 2015 with a series of special Golden Anniversary exhibitions and programs. The centerpiece of the celebration will be a series of public and private events April 16-18, 2015, during SMU’s annual Founders’ Day Weekend. The Meadows Museum will also mark its 50th by unveiling a special anniversary logo and website in the coming months. The Meadows’ 50th celebration in 2015 coincides with the 100th Anniversary of SMU’s opening in 1915.

The exhibit will display iconic art works from museums’ collections on outdoor advertising displays across the United States.
