The McKinney Avenue Contemporary (The MAC) announced the departure of Executive Director Lisa Hees effective June 1, 2014. Ms. Hees is pursuing other art opportunities in Boston, MA. Hees joined The MAC in 2010 as an Assistant Director and became the Executive Director in April 2011.
The MAC experienced growth under Hees’ leadership in both collaboration and initiatives. Visual exhibitions received local and national media attention. The MAC remains a unique art venue in Dallas.
“The MAC is a very special place, giving all who choose to spend their time here the chance to experience world class contemporary art and build a relationship with Dallas’ extraordinary community of artists and supporters,” said Hees.
“Each exhibition and event we program holds significance in that we draw attention to our Texas based talent, make available the work of national and international artists and most importantly provide a platform and space for everyone to convene and experience these things together. I am honored to have had the opportunity to work with my incredible staff and Board of Directors. The past three years I was Director at The MAC have been both professionally and personally rewarding beyond anything I could have imagined. I look forward to the future of The MAC and watching it continue to grow and serve its’ important role in our expanding cultural landscape.”
The MAC Board President Susan Matusewicz said Hees has been a terrific leader. A search committee is being formed to appoint the next Executive Director.
