Four Art Legends to be Honored at Dallas Contemporary

Dallas Contemporary will honor four art legends on Thursday, September 17, 2009. Honors include Vernon Fisher, noted artist, teacher; Nash Flores, area patron who led the successful campaign to build the Booker T Washington High School for Performing and Visual Arts, and philanthropists Arlene and John Dayton: John, serves as board member of the grand Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Foundation, and Arlene, president of Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas. Given annually for 17 years, Dallas Contemporary Legends 2009 Awards recognize individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the visual arts in Texas.

Hair by Charlie Grand Opening to Benefit The MAC

Hair by Charlie, a full-service hair salon owned by Charlie Price, has moved from its downtown Dallas loft locale to an intimate space in Uptown, well-known for trendy shops, hot restaurants and spicy nightlife. The eclectic and stylish salon will celebrate with a grand opening party on Thursday, June 25 from 8-11 pm. Charlie’s parties are a much-anticipated event, and this one will be no exception. Well-known DJ Parker Lawson will stand behind the turntables while guests sip Belvedere Vodka cocktails, mingle, and bid on various auction items to benefit The McKinney Avenue Contemporary (MAC), a Dallas non-profit art space that advocates freedom of creativity and experimentation of art in all disciplines.
