The City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs has announced a call to artists for the White Rock Lake Centennial Commemorative Sculpture project. The project is open to all professional artists not currently under contract with the City of Dallas Public Art Program or anyone currently employed by the City of Dallas. This is a gran opportunity to leave a lasting impression on our beautiful city.
The Catholic Foundation is pleased to announce the Sixth Annual Catholic Foundation Plaza Artists Competition. The Foundation has expanded the competition’s geographic boundaries and is now accepting submissions from professional artists from across the entire state of Texas. The winning artist will receive a $2,500 stipend and will have their work featured as a larger-than-life mural in the Catholic Foundation Plaza, located in the heart of the Dallas Arts District for one year. Additionally, honorable mentions will receive $250 each. The deadline for entries is 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2011.

Like the annual Expo juried show, 500X EXPO: COLLEGE aims to bring together artists from around the state. The exhibition offers college students an opportunity to enter into a dialogue with their Texas-based counterparts and to see work by their colleagues at other institutions. The El Paso Museum of Art and the Museo de Arte de Ciudad Juarez announce the Border Art Biennial 2010, the first juried exhibition to examine and highlight the often under-represented, but vital art and artists from the states on the US/Mexico border: Arizona, Baja California, California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, New Mexico, Nuevo León, Sonora, Tamaulipas, and Texas. To emphasize the notion of collaboration, each Museum will exhibit one of two artworks by every artist selected. All works included will be reproduced in the accompanying exhibition catalog.
500X Gallery – Texas’ oldest artist-run space – hosts one of North Texas’ most anticipated annual juried competitions. EXPO 2010 is open to all artists over the age of 18 living in Texas. Work in a variety of media – including drawing, painting, sculpture, and video – has been juried into the exhibition, and the artists selected represent a broad sampling of work from around the Metroplex.
