Dallas Museum of Art today announced the expansion of its access series. The Museum will now include a new program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, to be called All Access Art, and for the first time, offer a DMA Access docent training course, which the first group of docents has successfully completed.
The Nasher Sculpture Center announced The Great Create, their third annual fundraising event. The Great Create is Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 1 to 4 p.m. The event, which engages families artistic sides, raises essential funds for the museum’s educational initiatives.
Sally Beauty Supply and the Dallas Museum of Art have recreated Claude Monet’s Water Lilies (1908) in nail polish. This vibrant work celebrated the arrival of Sally Beauty Supply’s Nail Studio. The creation uses more than 6,600 nail polish bottles. This beautiful work is only on display tonight, January 16, 2015, from 6 p.m. to midnight. See it while you can.
The first Dallas Photo Walk, in conjunction with 500px Global Photo Walk, will be this Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Over two dozen photographers have signed-up via Facebook to attend the journey around Dallas Fair Park and West End. Photographers Mark D. and Mr. Holga will be walking and taking pictures with both local and out-of-town photographers. All photographers (pro, amateur, novice) and cameras (film, digital, instant) are welcome.
The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza will present award-winning folksinger Christine Lavin as part of their monthly Living History Program. Lavin will appear twice for the museum on Friday, August 8 at 11:30 a.m. and again on Saturday, August 9 at 2 p.m. This special event is free with paid admission or $5 for just the Lavin event without museum access. The historic Denton Square is about to become even more fun with the opening of a new Painting with a Twist on Thursday, June 12. Painting with a Twist is the original “Paint and Sip” franchise, where attendees are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks and have fun while a local artist guides everyone to their own paint works of art.
J. Elke Ertle was just 17 years old when she joined thousands of other West Berlin residents to hear President John F. Kennedy address the crowd on June 26, 1963. Ertle, who immigrated to the United States a few years later, will discuss that historic day and the Cold War of the early 1960s during The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza’s June Living History program. Ertle will present at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 6, and again at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 7, on the Museum’s seventh floor.

May 10th, the El Paso Museum of Art presents Low-Riders at the Museum from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event is free and open to all. The museum is also giving free admission to Gaspar Enríquez: Metaphors of El Barrio.
