Monet’s Water Lilies Recreated in Nail Polish

Sally Beauty Supply and the Dallas Museum of Art have recreated Claude Monet’s Water Lilies (1908) in nail polish. This vibrant work celebrated the arrival of Sally Beauty Supply’s Nail Studio. The creation uses more than 6,600 nail polish bottles. This beautiful work is only on display tonight, January 16, 2015, from 6 p.m. to midnight. See it while you can.

First Dallas Photo Walk this Saturday, September 6th

The first Dallas Photo Walk, in conjunction with 500px Global Photo Walk, will be this Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Over two dozen photographers have signed-up via Facebook to attend the journey around Dallas Fair Park and West End. Photographers Mark D. and Mr. Holga will be walking and taking pictures with both local and out-of-town photographers. All photographers (pro, amateur, novice) and cameras (film, digital, instant) are welcome.

The Sixth Floor Museum Features Folksinger Christine Lavin

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza will present award-winning folksinger Christine Lavin as part of their monthly Living History Program. Lavin will appear twice for the museum on Friday, August 8 at 11:30 a.m. and again on Saturday, August 9 at 2 p.m. This special event is free with paid admission or $5 for just the Lavin event without museum access. Painting with a Twist Opens in Denton Square

The historic Denton Square is about to become even more fun with the opening of a new Painting with a Twist on Thursday, June 12. Painting with a Twist is the original “Paint and Sip” franchise, where attendees are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks and have fun while a local artist guides everyone to their own paint works of art.

The Sixth Floor Museum Presents a Witness to Kennedy’s Berlin Speech

J. Elke Ertle was just 17 years old when she joined thousands of other West Berlin residents to hear President John F. Kennedy address the crowd on June 26, 1963. Ertle, who immigrated to the United States a few years later, will discuss that historic day and the Cold War of the early 1960s during The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza’s June Living History program. Ertle will present at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 6, and again at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 7, on the Museum’s seventh floor.

LuminArte Gallery Announce Bruce Sulzberg Reception

On May 17, 2014 from 7 to 10 p.m., there will be an artist reception at LuminArte Gallery with Bruce Sulzburg, who will be unveiling his new 3- dimensional acrylic on acrylic original wine painting for the event. Bruce, as an avid wine collector, will be pouring 10 of his favorite wines from California and signing the original that night for the fine art collector that purchases the painting.

Art Alliance Austin Announces Receptions During Studio Tour

Art Alliance Austin is delighted to invite the public to two free events taking place during the West Austin Studio Tour this year. Art lovers are invited for a special reception for the GloWave Sculpture, an art installation by Austin-based artist Melissa Borrell. The event will take place the first weekend of WEST on Saturday, May 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Little Stacey Park at the GloWave sculpture, which is located near Eastside Drive and Annie Street.

Former President Bush Leads 4th Annual Warrior 100K

Last month, former President George W. Bush made headlines by publicly unveiling his paintings of world leaders in The Art of Leadership: A President’s Personal Diplomacy. While many have weighed in on the artistic merit of the former president, few can deny his passion for helping post-9/11 service members. This weekend, our staff photographer had the opportunity to attend the fourth annual Warrior 100K (W100K) at Bush’s Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas.
