Today, Dallas Art News turns five years old. The online news source for visual art in the Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex was created by managing editor M. C. Roman on April 29, 2009. The Dallas Art News website has posted over 2,100 news releases and reviews for art all over Texas and surrounding states.
The Dallas Museum of Art along with the Art Institute of Chicago, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art will exhibit Art Everywhere starting August 4, 2014 and lasting four weeks. The exhibit will display iconic art works from museums’ collections on outdoor advertising displays across the United States. Displays will include billboards, digital displays, subway / train platforms, buses and bus shelters. See full news release below for more details.
24 Works on Paper, a travelling exhibition of work by living Oklahoma artists, will open to the public on July 26, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Individual Artists of Oklahoma (IAO) Gallery, 706 W. Sheridan Ave. in Oklahoma City. Produced as a collaboration between Individual Artists of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC), the exhibition will then travel the state for over a year, bringing original, contemporary Oklahoman artwork to viewers in communities large and small.
The Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC) awards the $5,000 Oklahoma Visual Arts Fellowships to Pete Froslie of Norman and Kate Johnson of Tulsa. OVAC also grants $500 Student Awards of Excellence to Sarah Engel-Barnett and Brent Richardson, both of Norman.
The Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition’s (OVAC) inaugural Concept/OK: Art in Oklahoma exhibition debuts to the public at the Arts & Humanities Council of Tulsa’s Hardesty Arts Center (AHHA) on December 16, 2012, 1-5 p.m.
