All aboard for the Dallas Art News Museum Express Tour. The tour will visit eight Dallas and Fort Worth museums in one day using the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T), Trinity Railway Express (TRE) and Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) as transportation between the institutions. The Dallas Art News Museum Express Tour will visit the Amon Carter Museum, Crow Collection of Asian Art, Dallas Museum of Art, Kimbell Art Museum, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Meadows Museum, Nasher Sculpture Center and The Women’s Museum. The tour starts at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2010, when all tourists gather for a coffee kick-off at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center.

On the walls of the finite space lies an infinite exploration through American life via Masterworks of American Photography: Popular Culture. Judging from the title of the exhibition, some might expect a display of portraits of movie stars and celebutantes from decades past, but instead viewers are taken (swiftly) through American history, as far back as the 1800s.

The Amon Carter Museum has acquired a rediscovered painting by American artist George de Forest Brush. The Potter, painted in 1889, had been in private hands since 1946, when it was sold from the collection of the Galveston financier William L. Moody III.

This popular series of lectures and presentations by artists, scholars, and critics at the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth is free and open to the public. To assure seating, free admission tickets are available at the Modern’s admission desk beginning at 5 p.m. on the day of the lecture. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m. and is limited to 250. A live broadcast of the lectures is shown in Café Modern for any additional guests. Lectures begin at 7 p.m. The Museum galleries and the café remain open until 7 p.m. on Tuesday evenings during the series.
