The Arts of Collin County has changed their name to The Arts Center of North Texas. They believe the new name more accurately defines the project as a destination dedicated to the arts that serves a broad region of communities.

At Thursday’s Arts of Collin County (ACC) Board Meeting on Feb. 24, 2011, the Board of Directors directed the Executive Director and staff to present a preliminary plan and recommended process at next month’s Board meeting for potentially changing the name of the Arts of Collin County.

Since the Arts of Collin County Board appointed the art selection committee in fall of 2010, the group has met to begin developing an Art Master Plan for selecting and placing new pieces of art throughout the project in; the outdoor sculpture garden, meadow, entrances, trails and interior spaces of the performing arts center such as; the lobbies, learning room, donor room, classroom and visual art gallery.

To continue the ten year anniversary of the Frisco-based, Music Conservatory of Texas, a $1,500 scholarship will be available to Frisco ISD high school senior students interested in studying music in college. The Music Conservatory of Texas partnered with the Frisco Education Foundation to administer the scholarship in memory of their co-founder, Carol Lee South.
